Speech and Language Services
1. Screenings and evaluations (with parent consent)
- Speech-Sound Disorders (articulation)
- Receptive Communication (listening or written comprehension)
- Expressive Communication (formulating spoken or written language)
- Fluency (stuttering)
- Pragmatic (social communication skills)
- Classroom observations
2. Treatment (with parent consent)
- Provide direct intervention for any of the above (individual, group, and/or in class support)
- Consultation with teachers, support staff, and other professionals
- Development of social skills programs
- Assist in creating behavior support plans
- Parent education and coaching
- Collaboration with teachers and support staff in assisting with implementing strategies recommended in evaluation findings
- Modification of curriculum and other classroom supports
- Review independent evaluations with teachers and support staff to support a student’s learning
- Review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) from the Department of Education with teachers and assisting teachers in understanding a student’s specific services and needs
- Provide information regarding a student who is going through the referral process at the Department of Education
- Provide recommendations to parents who may need additional services (i.e. referral to an occupational therapist due to sensory progressing concerns)
- Collaboration with teachers to assist them in developing appropriate accommodations. Modifications needed to help with a student’s academic success (i.e. preferential seating, extended time to take tests)
